Austin's Best Indian Restaurants in 2026

We crunched the numbers across 46 restaurants and 40,000+ Google reviews to find the most consistently loved Indian food in the Austin area.

Austin's Indian food scene has exploded over the past decade. What was once a handful of curry houses has grown into over 45 restaurants spanning South Indian, North Indian, Chettinad, street food, and everything in between.

At Chaidosa, we track every Indian restaurant in the Austin area — 46 restaurants, over 6,000 menu items, and dish-level search. To put together this guide, we looked at Google ratings and total review counts across all of them and used a weighted composite score that balances rating quality with review volume. A 4.9-star place with 12 reviews ranks below a 4.7-star place with 18,000 — because the latter is far more proven.

Here are the standout picks.

Sangam Chettinad Indian Cuisine
4.7

Sangam Chettinad Indian Cuisine

Round Rock (Palm Valley Blvd)·South Indian · Chettinad·18.6k Google reviews

No list of Austin-area Indian food starts anywhere else. Sangam Chettinad is the most-reviewed Indian restaurant in the region by a wide margin, and the ratings have held up across nearly two decades of service. The specialty is Chettinad cuisine — a Tamil Nadu style known for its bold use of freshly ground spices, pepper, and kalpasi (stone flower). The crab masala and mutton chukka are local legends. Expect a wait on weekends.

Bombay Street Food
4.7

Bombay Street Food

North Austin (Research Blvd)·Indian Street Food·2.0k Google reviews

Bombay Street Food fills a gap that most Indian restaurants in Austin don't touch: the chaotic, spiced, quick-serve street food of Mumbai — pav bhaji, bhel puri, vada pav, kathi rolls. It's casual, fast, and affordable, and it scratches a completely different itch than a sit-down curry house. A great option when you want something light and snack-forward rather than a full meal.
